Jigawa and Borno have joined the list of states battling with the deadly COVID-19 infection, this is as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) annonced that the country has recorded eighty-six new cases of the virulent disease.
The 86 fresh cases is the highest single-day toll since the country confirmed it first case of the disease in early February.
The agency made the announcement in its daily situation report of COVID-19 on its official twitter page on Sunday.
According to the agency, of the 86 new cases, Lagos which is the worst hit state in Nigeria maintained that status with another staggering 70 new cases.
Conversely, seven of the fresh cases are confirmed in the federal capital territory, Abuja, three in Kastina and Akwa Ibom, one in Bauchi while Jigawa and Borno also joined the fray with one cases.
Meanwhile, one of the cases reported in Kano has now been transferred to Jigawa.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria to 627
However, 170 of the confirmed cases have been discharged with 21 deaths recorded.
