Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has asked the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Atiku to step down for him ahead of the February 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu disclosed this while speaking at an interactive session with some Northern leaders under the auspices of Arewa Joint Committee on Monday.
Tinubu noted that he dropped his ambition and endorsed Atiku who contested under the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2007.
Thelagostimes gathered that the committee, comprising the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Sir Ahmadu Bello Foundation (ABF), Arewa Research and Development Project, and Jamiyyar Matan Arewa had invited some presidential candidates for an interactive session in Kaduna.
The programme which started on Saturday, was attended by Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Abiola of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Adewale Adeboye of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
It was gathered that Tinubu and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) joined the event in Kaduna today (Monday).
