Motorists have lamented the hike in the price of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N209.61 per litre.

Thelagostimes gathered that this is coming days after the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) promised that there would be no price hike for PMS.

Confirming the increment, the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) revealed in a new monthly template that the price of petrol has reached N212.6 per litre.

According to the template which the PPPRA released midnight, petrol is expected to sell at a lower retail price of N209.61 and at an upper retail price of N212.61. Nigerian marketers usually use the upper band for pump price.

The expected ex-depot price, as seen in the template, is N206.42, while the landing cost is N189.61.

With ex-depot price standing at N206.42 per litre, the March template shows that the landing cost for petrol per litre is N189.61.

Meanwhile, a source told Thelagostimes that there is currently a scarcity of fuel in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital as most petrol stations are closed.

Thelagostimes also reports that this increment has generated a lot of angry reactions from Lagosians as filling stations are already experiencing long queues.

While some lamented the stress of getting petrol, others complained that this might affect the price of goods and services.
