Oyebanji Sworn In As Ekiti Governor

Mr. Abiodun Oyebanji has taken his oath of office as the new Governor of Ekiti State.

Thelagostimes reports that Oyebanji was sworn in by the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, on Sunday, October 16, 2022 amidst applause from the crowd.

Dignitaries at the event include the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki; governors of Jigawa, Ogun, Kebbi, Ondo and Plateau states respectively, Abubakar Badaru, Dapo Abiodun, Atiku Bagudu, Rotimi Akeredolu and Simon Lalong.

The new governor took over from Kayode Fayemi, who doubled as the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum.

Oyebanji, who served as the former Secretary to the State Governor under the administration of Fayemi before he resigned to pick up the APC governorship ticket pledged to preserve, protect and defend as well as preserve the office as governor.
