Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was one of the first passengers to embark on a journey aboard the newly launched Lagos Blue Line rail system on Monday.
Thelagostimes gathered that the governor boarded the train from the Marina terminal enroute Mile 2.
Recall that the Managing Director, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Mrs Abimbola Akinajo, had earlier announced on Thursday that the Lagos Blue Line Rail would commence commercial operations on Monday, September 4.
Akinajo had also added that Governor Sanwo-Olu would be the first passenger during the inaugural ride on the train.
On Monday, the governor was accompanied by his wife, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; deputy governor, Obafemi Hamzat; Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, former Deputy Governor, Femi Pedro; an ex-Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, among other government officials.
According to LAMATA, for the first month, the train would run only 12 trips with the locomotive system.
