Nigeria Police Arrest Two Officers For Dehumanizing Lady In Viral Video
The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, have arrested two of its officers for dehumanising a female citizen in a video that went viral on Wednesday.
The NPF in a statement on Thursday said investigations by the force were able to identify three police officers and one civilian accomplice who participated in the unprofessional act.
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had ordered discreet investigations into the circumstances surrounding the dehumanising treatment meted out to the lady on Wednesday.
The force in a statement via Twitter confirmed the arrest of two officers with two accomplices at large.
NPF tweeted, “Two (2) suspects, ASP Tijani Olatunji and Inspr Gboyega Oyeniyi have been arrested for their role in the discreditable conduct and incivility to a member of the public.
“They are currently being detained at the Lagos State CID detention facility, Panti, Yaba.
“Preliminary investigations show that the policemen who are attached Area ‘A’ Command, Lion Building, Lagos, were on legitimate investigation activities to Ibadan, Oyo State where the incident took place.
“Effort is being intensified to arrest the two other accomplices. Meanwhile, appropriate disciplinary procedure will be initiated as soon as investigations are concluded.”
Thelagostimes gathered that the officers, in the video, physically assaulted the lady and asked her unnecessary questions.
