Omo-Agege Defeats Ekweremadu, Emerges Deputy Senate President

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has emerged as the Deputy Senate President of the Ninth Assembly.

The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial district of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated his closest opponent, Ike Ekweremadu, a former Deputy Senate President and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr Omo-Agege polled 68 votes while Mr Ekweremadu garnered 37. There was one void vote.

With this latest development, Mr Omo-Agege will now run alongside Ahmed Lawan, who has also emerged Senate President.
