2023: CJN Swears In Election Petition Tribunal Members
The Chief Justice of the Federation (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola has sworn in members of the Election Petition Tribunal for the 2023 general elections.
Thelagostimes gathered that the event took place on Monday at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) in Abuja.
After administering the oath of office on the members of the Tribunal, the CJN urged the judicial officers not to treat their assignments with levity.
He further stressed that he would not condone any act of recklessness, abuse of power and public trust from any of the Tribunal members.
He said: “Trust is a burden and you must discharge it with utmost sincerity, honesty and transparency because conscience is an open wound healed only by truth. You must rise and operate above every sentiment that might play out in the course of your adjudication in the various tribunals”.
It was gathered that the exercise kicked off a four-day capacity workshop for the justices and members of the Tribunal to end on Thursday.
In attendance at the event include the President of the Appeal Court, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem; Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu; as well as justices of the Court of Appeal.
