3 New Patients In Lagos, 1 In Abuja, As Coronavirus Cases In Nigeria Hit 27
The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says three new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Lagos.
According to a tweet shared on the NCDC handle on Sunday, the cases had a history of travelling to high-risk countries in the last seven days.
This brings the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country to 26 as at 8:05am on Sunday.
This is including the case announced by Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo state, on Saturday night.
Two patients have been discharged since cases of the disease were confirmed in Nigeria.
There are 19 patients in Lagos; one in Ekiti; two in Ogun, and three in the federal capital territory (FCT).
“The COVID-19 confirmation test for the suspected case at Bodija has come back POSITIVE. The result was released at 17:35 PM of March 21, 2020,” Makinde had said.
“Another returnee from Texas, USA, has also been identified at Oluyole local government area. She has been kept in self-isolation with close monitoring by the state epidemiological team. All recent returnees are again urged to identify themselves to ministry officials and self-isolate for 14 days.”
The federal capital territory (FCT) has also confirmed one new case of the coronavirus in the nation’s capital.
This brings to 27 the total number of confirmed cases of the infection in Nigeria — with four of them in Abuja and 19 in Lagos.
Ogun has two cases while Ekiti and Oyo has one each.
The new case in Abuja comes barely 24 hours after the city recorded its first cases of COVID-19.

March 17: The third case was confirmed, a 30-year-old Nigerian who returned from the United Kingdom.
March 18: Nigeria confirmed five new cases of the virus, four of the new cases were in Lagos while one was in Ekiti.
March 19: The country confirmed four new cases of the virus.
March 21: 10 new cases were recorded: seven in Lagos, and three in Abuja.
March 22: Nigeria confirmed five new cases, three in Lagos, one in Oyo, and one in Abuja.
