President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended Walter Nkanu Onnoghen as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

President Buhari announced the suspension at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja today.

According to him, the suspension followed the order of the CCT directing him to suspend Onnoghen, pending the completion of his trial.

He replaced Onnoghen with Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed who is currently the most senior Supreme Court judge.
