Wale Tinubu…Champion Extraordinaire

Wale-Tinubu

Wale Tinubu, the Group Chief Executive Officer, Oando Plc belongs to that rare breed of men who possess the ability to consistently do more than they say. If he promises you a hill, better be sure you’re getting a mountain. For years, he’s sailed untroubled in the entrepreneurial ocean, navigating numerous business boats with grace and nous of veteran captain.

A man of no mean repute whose achievements can be composed into a platinum album, Wale beams with the glow of perpetual investors’ the confidence in a clime notorious for its herculean business climate. He perches top oil and gas giant Oando like a majestic eagle. Vigilant-eyed and sharp-nosed, he has never disappointed the shareholders’ trust and he isn’t about to start now.

When he took to the podium last year and confidently proclaimed his determination to elevate Oando’s fortunes to heights never seen and scarcely conceivable, there were quite a few raised eyebrows and skeptical looks scattered among the smattering of polite applause. Yet, with the company’s accounts for the business year recently turned in, there is no question about just who is smirking now.

From a profit of ₦19.8 billion in 2017, the company’s income has soared by more than forty-five percent to 28.8 billion, an astonishing increase when inflation and the inclement trading conditions are factored in. What else could be responsible if not Tinubu’s midas touch?

After delivering such a resounding slap to the face of his numerous doubters who insist on remaining blind and deaf to his incontestable greatness, Wale Tinubu could be forgiven for taking his feet off the pedals, if only just a little. But such is not the modus operandi of the nephew of APC chieftain, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He has already set bigger targets for the current financial year which he is working harder than ever to achieve.

On the menu are grand visions of turning Oando into a big, lean profit-spinning model of organizational and operational efficiency, not to mention expansion plans geared towards widening Oando’s tentacles to other corners of the globe. With his not inconsiderable body of work available as evidence, no wise person will bet against Wale once again performing new fears of magic.
