A popular second-hand clothes shop in Lagos, Katangowa was engulfed by fire in the early hours of Monday (today).

TheLagostimes gathered that the entire stretch of shops opposite the central mosque in the market destroyed.

The market is located in Agbado/Okeodo local council development area, along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.

Residents of the area said the fire started around 3am, destroying shops and second-hand clothes.

According to report, men of the state fire service and officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency were mobilised to quench the fire.

Also on ground were policemen from the Oke Odo divisional headquarters, which were mobilised to prevent the looting of unaffected shops.

Meanwhile, properties worth milliions of naira were reportedly destroyed in the inferno.
