Roads Blocked, Lagosians Resort to Trekking As Gridlock Persists (Photos)
Following the heavy gridlock along major roads in Lagos state, commuters have resorted to trekking.
A commuter at Ikeja who pleaded annonymous told Thelagostimes that she decided to use her “Legedez Benz” (a satirical statement used to depict the act of trekking) as there was no bus to convey her to her destination.
Thelagostimes gathered that the gridlock was as a result of ongoing road constructions along the roads. It was gathered that the state government was repairing the road leading to Ikeja along from Oshodi axis.
Vehicle owners were visibly frustrated as a result of the stand-still. A few of them turned off their engines and slept off while others just looked on.
A vehicle owner who spoke with thelagostimes stated that he regretted taking his car out. The man who simply identified himself as Bayo stated that he had been stuck in the traffic for about two hours. According to him, he would have resorted to taking a bike or trekking if he had not taken his car out.
Meanwhile, other residents who could not get buses to their various destinations resorted to trekking.
