President Muhammadu Buhari has stepped in to quell the feud between Kwara governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and former Senate President Bukola Saraki over the recent demolition of Ile Arugbo (old people’s home) in Ilorin, the state capital by the governor, a report by the Nation has revealed.

The report said the president had set up a private investigative committee to investigate the circumstances that engendered the demolition and give him feedback.

The source added tha the president had notified the governor about the private committee, he could not ascertain if he had also informed Bukola Saraki.

President Buhari expressed growing concern about the crisis, which has pervaded the media in the last two weeks, A source quoted in the report was said to have revealed

The former Senate President and his younger sister, Gbemi Saraki, who is a serving minister in Buhari’s cabinet, had berated Governor AbdulRazaq over the demolition. Saraki also insinuated that the demolition has a political undertone.

The Sarakis averred that the demolition was a slight on the memory of their late father, a Second Republic Senate Leader, Olusola Saraki.

The state government has since debunked the allegation, saying the land, which belonged to the state, was illegally appropriated to the late politician when his son, Bukola, was governor of the state.
