JUST IN: NIJ Gets New Deputy Provost, Acting Registrar

New Deputy Provost and new acting registrar have emerged at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Nigeria’s première monotechnic, located at Ikeja area of Lagos State.

The governing council of the institute ratified the appointment of Dr Dele Omojuyigbe, an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and senior lecturer at the institute.

The appointments were contained in a statement issued by the institute on Friday after a meeting held by the governing council.

Omojuyigbe who replaces Dr Jide Johnson as Deputy Provost was, before his appointment, the Head of Department, General Studies of the institute.

Mrs Patricia Kalesanwo was also appointed the Acting Registrar of the institute.

Kalesanwo, before her appointment, was the Students’ Affairs Officier of the institute. She is taking over from Dotun Adeniji, who held the position for over a decade.

statement read “The Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism has approved appointment of Dr Dele Omojuyigbe as the Deputy Provost of the institution.

“The council also approved the appointment of Mrs Patricia Kalesanwo as the Acting Registrar of the institution.

The decision was taken at a meeting held today, Friday, the 28th of February 2020. The appointment takes immediate effect,” the statement read in part.

Nigerian Institute of Journalism is a diploma awarding monotechnic established in 1973 by the International Press Institute. The Institution offers programmes leading to the award of diplomas in Mass Communication.
