Lagos Govt Says It’s Not Lifted Lockdown, Urges Residents To Shun Fake News

Lagos state government on Friday said reports that the state had lifted the lockdown imposed on it by president Muhammadu Buhari was untrue.

President  Buhari had ordered a lockdown in the federal capital territory (FCT), Lagos and Ogun states in a bid to halt the spread of coronavirus.

The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who refuted the news on his official twitter page, called on Lagosians  to ignore the rumour of a relaxed curfew..

He asked them to think long term, spend the Easter holiday with loved ones at home and stay safe.

“The true meaning of Good Friday and Easter is the power of sacrifice. This weekend, the sacrifice of staying at home and social distancing is required to stop the spread of COVID19. Avoid fake news, the lockdown hasn’t been lifted. Think longterm, StayAtHomeAndStaySafe,” he said.

“The Federal Government has announced a public holiday, do spend time with your loved ones AT HOME. We are thankful for technology; I will be worshipping virtually with my family on Easter Sunday. Kindly say a prayer for all our health workers.”
