JUST IN: Governor Sanwo-Olu Moves To Abolish Payment Of Pension To Former Governors, Deputies
The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced his plans to repeal the Public Office Holder (Payment of Pension Law 2007), which provides for payment of pension and other entitlements to former Governors and their Deputies.
The governor disclosed this on Tuesday while presenting the 2021 budget to the Lagos State House of Assembly.
According to a tweet by the governor’s senior special assistant on new media, Jubril Gawat, the bill will repeal pension payments and entitlements to ex-governors and their deputies.
“Governor of Lagos State, Mr @jidesanwoolu has announced his intention, through executive bill, to repeal the public office holder (Payment of Pension Law 2007), which provides for payment of pension & other entitlements to former governors and their deputies,” Gawat tweeted.
