Osun 2014: Isiaka Adeleke Joins Race…Gbenga Daniel Denies Him
Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke, the first civilian Governor of Osun State, has submitted his Peoples Democratic Party nomination form, indicating his interest to become governor of the state once again in the August 8 governorship election in the state.
Hinging his interest on calls by elders of his party, PDP, to join the race, Adeleke said he could not turn down the request of the elders because they believed only him had the clout to unseat the incumbent governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in the August 9 gubernatorial election.
Adeleke, known as Serubawon in political circles, had said that the former governor of Ogun State told him that President Goodluck Jonathan said he should join the race, as he (Jonathan) was ready to deploy the party machinery at the national level to ensure his victory at the primaries.
No sooner had Adeleke gone to town with this tale than Gbenga Daniel, who has decamped to Labour Party, countered this claim. Daniel said President Jonathan never sent him any message to Adeleke. Daniel explained that Adeleke’s name only came up when a “stakeholder” mentioned him.
