When you are rich and powerful, no one will challenge you to your face or give you a chance to explain yourself. All the whispers are behind your back. The Lagos Times gathered that the  minister of communications Barrister Adebayo Shittu and his immediate family don’t give a hoot about the ugly rumours that have been trailing him in recent times. They have been having a swell time in the world’s capitals.

Recall that few days back one of the minister’s former aides added more fuel to the fires of gossip by alleging that the Oyo governorship hopeful has been living extravagantly and buying big cars and bigger houses for cronies, and concubines whom he has kept hidden. This is asides other allegations of corruption that have hung around his gubernatorial ambition like a bad smell.

And even as the one-time attorney general and minister for justice in Oyo state has given the traitorous aide his marching orders, his wife, Muhibat, and daughter, Raheemat, don’t seem bothered by all the negative talk. The Lagos Times learnt that they have been having a jolly good time holidaying in New York. They were even spotted at a mall in Buffalo, New York few days back. Presumably, they were there for a last-minute Easter shopping spree.

The duo were full of smiles and exhibited an air of contentment. They didn’t look anything like the relatives of a man whose alleged extravagance has been laid bare for the voracious birds of rumour mongering to feast upon. There is however speculation in some quarters that their absence from the country was a ploy by the minister to remove them from the firing line while he cleans the mess back home.
