JUST-IN: Ekweremadu’s Wife Released From UK Prison
Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of Ike Ekweremadu former deputy senate president, has reportedly been released from prison in the United Kingdom and is now back in Nigeria.
According to reports, her return has sparked celebrations across Enugu State, where supporters and well-wishers were hopeful for the eventual release of her husband. Many have expressed solidarity with the Ekweremadu family, offering prayers for his return in the shortest possible time.
Recall that Beatrice and her husband were convicted for charges bothering on organ harvesting and trafficking in May 2023. The couple had attempted to buy a kidney off a young Nigerian boy to make him a donor to their daughter Sophia.
Beatrice, Ike, and one Obinna Obeta, a medical doctor, were sentenced to prison by a UK court for their involvement in organ harvesting – with the husband bagging 10 years and Beatrice six years, despite pleading poor health in court.
