Lagos Speaker: Lawmakers Relocate To Oba Oniru Palace
The palace of Oniru of Iru Land, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal has become a mecca of a sort for Lagos lawmakers amid leadership crisis bedevillng the State House of Assembly.
On January 13 Hon. Mudashiru Obasa was removed as Speaker while Mojisola Lasbat Meranda was elected as the new Speaker.

The monarch was a commissioner both under Governors Babatunde Raji Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode.
Recall that the House of Assembly on Monday adjourned sitting indefinitely after its committees were earlier dissolved by the new Speaker on the day of her election.
Fresh reports said the lawmakers have turned Hon. Meranda’s brother’s palace to their rendezvous as the Speaker’s sibling allegedly becomes the latest power broker in Lagos politics.
“Lagos lawmakers across the state now literally sleep at Oniru’s palace and worship at Oba Lawal’s feet, curring the monarch’s favour in order to be awarded juicy committees in the House,” sources said.
An unconfirmed source added that Oba Lawal once nursed the ambition of governing Lagos before Ambode emerged as All Progressives Congress candidate then, and in his pursuit of the aspiration lobbied Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu to convince Tinubu to buy into it.
“Now everything seems to fall into place for him. It’s his desire has a bona fide Lagosian to be in control of the state politics, and it appears things are steering towards that direction. In fact, people close to him now hype him as the new Jagaban,” the source alleged.
