How Gov Ambode’s Chief Press Secretary Habib Haruna Became First Among Equals

If an award were to be given for the best performing state executive, it is virtually guaranteed that Lagos State governor Akinwunmi Ambode will cart away the trophy unopposed. Since he became the state’s number one citizen, world-class infrastructure has been growing like mushrooms in every nook and corner of the centre of excellence.
One man who is making sure that Ambode’s wonderful deeds are being made known to the world in no uncertain terms is his Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Habib Haruna. Haruna understands the importance of his position as chief image maker to the executive of the most prosperous and populous state in the country.  He deploys his array of media skills to report everything concerning the governor and the state in a positive manner.
Haruna is one man who fits Ambode’s media vision for Lagos to a tee. Like a nurse he skilfully feeds the right doses of information to the public. And unlike some of his peers whose media briefings are extended eulogies of their bosses, Haruna provides real insight and perspectives into the nitty gritty of governances. The punctual and professional manner he reports on everything happening in the state has made him the toast of journalists everywhere.
A very dedicated, passionate and fun individual, Haruna does not shy away from the firing line when required. How best to launder his boss’ image is always the first and last thing on his mind. He is front and centre of every media event and maintains a friendly disposition towards his colleagues in the press who regularly inundate him with questions and clarifications.
Little wonder the much-beloved CPS has become the first name on everybody’s lips whenever the issue of the most outstanding image maker is being discussed. His exploits and accomplishments are visible even to the blind. He has become the best in Nigeria.
