NYSC Forgery Scandal: “Kemi Adeosun Is A Disgrace To Our State” – Ogun PDP
Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun has been described as a disgrace to Ogun State over her alleged forgery of the exemption certificate of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Progamme.
In a press statement released by the Publicity Secretary of Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Malik Ibitoye, Adeosun who is an indigene of the state was said to have brought shame and ridicule to the Gateway State.
The party added that such an allegation, which it said has not been denied by the minister, is unbecoming of a person occupying such an exalted office in a democratic dispensation, adding that the woman should resign her appointment forthwith.
“The allegation got to us as a rude shock. It was least expected that an indigene of Ogun State could descend so low to do what the woman did.
“This is a state that has produced the likes of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Professor Wole Soyinka, the late Chief MKO Abiola, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Ernest Shonekan, former governor Gbenga Daniel, Ransome Kutis and several other icons, who have made and are making waves as men of honour.
“We will not allow the likes of Mrs. Adeosun to destroy the laudable and enviable profile of our noble state.
“Adeosun should follow the path of honour by resigning from office and returning all the salaries and allowances she has collected since joining the government of Governor Ibikunle Amosun as a Commissioner of Finance in our State and as a minister of the Federal Republic.
“The can of worms has further shown that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is a party built on lies and deceit, no wonder they have not recorded any tangible achievement since they got to office three years ago,” the statement read.
Ibitoye lamented in the statement that the nation is in the news for the wrong reasons again and again due to the ineptitude and lack of direction by the APC, adding that it was time for the chicken to go home to roost.
The Ogun State PDP warned in the statement that any attempt to sweep the matter under the carpet would be met with stiff opposition, as, according to the party, the image of the state is at stake at this crucial time.
Ibitoye was quoted to have said in the statement that all men of honour from the state should rise to the occasion regardless of party affiliation “to compel this woman to leave office now to avoid further damage to the image of our beloved state.”
“The government of President Muhammadu Buhari should realize that Nigerians could no longer be deceived. The people have had enough in terms of economic hardship, lawlessness, insecurity, suffering and lack of focus.
“This government has done enough damage to the system, and there is no space for more with the news surrounding the nation’s Minister of Finance, whose ministry is the livewire of the nation.
“We in Ogun State chapter of the PDP are saying that enough is enough and we cannot continue to suffer in silence and allow someone to rubbish what took the state years to build all because she wanted to occupy a public office,” the party added in the statement.
