2019: LET’S SCALE THRU WITH THESE 10 CORE VALUES BY OLUWAFEMI AGAGU
I join millions of people in the world to wish everyone a prosperous and hitch-free brand new year.
In my own personal altar, I pray as we set our feet on the journey of this year, may we slide sans gêne (unconstrainedly) all thru the year. May we experience an auspicious year of direct & rapid influx into solace, affluence, divine fruitions and abundant gratifications {AMEN}.
The year 2018 that had just gone by, encompassed in it, a lot of mixed feelings and moments for everyone.
There were times where beautiful things happened to us. We had the ugly moments too; the happiest & sad; the annoying moments, the funniest, the boring moments, the surprising moments.
Above all, we all had our highs and lows of the year 2018.
Roy Bennett, in one of his artistic piece, titled, “The Light in the Heart”, said, “Focus on making choices to lead your life that aligns with your core values in the most purposeful way possible.”
Accordingly, as we begin this year 2019, I believe it’s imperative {in my little cognition} to share TEN CORE VALUES, we can hold onto, to have a smooth ride this year.
THE TEN CORE VALUES:
1. SELF DISCOVERY & DEVELOPMENT: One thing that’s very important in human living is that one must discover oneself, and then develop oneself. Self Development covers activities that improve awareness and identity, discover & develop one’s talents and potential, build human capital and facilitate employability, enhance the quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations.
2. DISCIPLINE: The ability to be able to stand and overlook excesses, wasteful spending in the year.
3. INTEGRITY; The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles or moral uprightness. It is a personal choice to hold one’s self to consistent standards. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one’s actions. Tell the truth at all times.
4. GODLINESS: The quality of exploring piety. Being devoutly religious, that is, being closer to God than before.
5. FAITHFULNESS: To be firm, committed, steadfast, doing something painstakingly, even when not seeing the results yet, you don’t loose hope.
6. HELPFULNESS: Help people the way people help you. Share God’s greatness and grace in your life with people. Be productive to people. Don’t be a pond, be a river. A pond doesn’t flow, it’s stagnant and may not be be productive, but a river is, because it flows.
7. ACCOUNTABILITY: The acknowledgment and assumption of responsibility for your actions, decisions, and policies including your personal administration. Be responsible for your own actions, for the consequences of your circumstances. Keep proper records of how you go about in your routines.
8. SELF CONTROL: An aspect of inhibitory control. The ability to regulate one’s emotions, thoughts, and behavior in the face of temptations and impulses. As an executive function, self-control is a cognitive process that is necessary for regulating one’s behavior in order to achieve specific goals. Take exercise control over yourself, over your actions. Don’t allow people to ‘remote control’ you for their own sake. Be your own boss!
9. TEAM WORK: No man is an island of his own. Teamwork is the collaborative effort of a team to achieve a common goal or to complete a task in the most effective and efficient way. In any endeavour you find yourself, work with people. Seek knowledge from those you know can impact in you well. Remember, TEAM means Together Everyone Achieve More.
10. TRANSPARENCY: Exercise openness anywhere you are. Be plain, be open, be sincere. You don’t have anything to hide.
……….
My belief is, it’s the kind of thing you believed in that made you where you are today. its called Life Philosophy, if you follow the wrong values, you are misguiding your steps.
With these TEN core values, if adequately and genuinely held onto for this year 2019, I believe everyone will have a smooth and hitch-free year.
Once again, I say HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all.
