Adeyeye Joins Fayose…Dumps G-13, Consensus Candidacy
Things have started falling apart among the group of 13 governorship aspirants who dissociated themselves from the Peoples Democratic Party’s primary elections that produced former governor Ayo Fayose as its flag-bearer in the June 21 election in Ekiti State.
A former Publicity Secretary of the Afenifere, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, has jettisoned his earlier stance in support of consensus candidacy for PDP in Ekiti State when a letter written and signed by him and Fayose stated that he was ready to work with ex-Governor Ayo Fayose.
Adeyeye was one of the 13 agggrieved governorship aspirants of the PDP who had rejected the result of the primary election which produced Fayose.
In the said letter, which was addressed to President Goodluck Jonathan, Adeyeye and Fayose agreed as a bargain that Adeyeye would pick the ministerial slot of Ekiti State.
Meanwhile, Senator Gbenga Aluko has emerged as the consensus candidate of the group of 13 aspirants who were against Ayo Fayose emergence. In reaction to Aluko’s selection by the group, the PDP has distanced itself from the group’s action. The party has emphasised its support for Ayo Fayose who won the primary election supervised by Dr. Peter Odili.
