The Lagos State Government has suspended the planned reopening of worship centres (mosques and churches ) slated for Friday June 19 and Sunday June 21.

Thelagostimes reports that the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon.

According to him, the decision was informed by increase in the number of coronavirus cases in Lagos.

Recall that on June 4, the state governor announced that religious centers will be allowed to open for worship provided they follow the COVID-19 guidelines.

He said Mosques will be allowed to resume worship on June 19 while churches in the state will be allowed to conduct services from Sunday, June 21.

This has however been suspended indefinitely as Lagos state remains the epicentre of the Coronavirus.
