500 Displaced In Ondo As Flood Ravages Community

The residents of Ayetoro community in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, were thrown into a state of despair and agony after a heavy downpour devastated in the community.

The effects of the devastation, it was gathered, had left 500 people homeless with over 700 houses affected.

According to one of the affected residents of the community, Mr. Emmanuel Aralu, the only church in the town, the palace, health center, and schools were all affected by the flood, stressing that some residents had fled the coastal community because of the disaster.

Aralu averred that business and other activities in the community had been brought to a halt as most of the people of the community who engage in fishing could no longer do so because of the river and the ocean that overflew their banks while most shops had been destroyed.

Another resident, who was affected by the flood, Mrs. Josephine explained that flooding in the community had become a perennial issue.

She added that all efforts to get the state government to resolve the problem issue had proved abortive with no measures taken.

“We need help from the government before the flood washes the community away, the state and federal governments should come to our aid.” she pleaded
