The Federal High Court in Abuja has given an order to the respondents in Muhammadu Sanusi incarceration litigation for the immediate release of the deposed Emir of Kano from confinement and or detention.
LagosTimes had reported that the dethroned Emir filed an ex parte application before the Federal challenging the legality and constitutionality of his post-dethronement d and confinement.
Sanusi’s team of lawyers led by Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) on Thursday filed a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/357/2020 before the Federal High Court in Abuja to challenge his banishment and continued detention in Awe by security agencies.
The respondents to the application are, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu; the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi; the Attorney-General of Kano State, Ibrahim Muktar, and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN).
In his judgement on Friday after hearing the application, Justice Anwuli Chikere ruled in favour of the deposed monarch, ordering the respondents to release the former central bank governor with immediate effect.
