The Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Amara Iwuanyanwu, has been removed.

The member representing Nwangele state constituency was removed on Tuesday during plenary under tight security.

Ekene Nnodim, member representing Orlu constituency, submitted a resolution signed by 18 out of the 27 state lawmakers for the removal of Iwuanyanwu as the Deputy Speaker.

The Speaker, Paul Emezim, who presided over the plenary gave his approval for Iwuanyanwu’s removal.

Meanwhile, the House of Assembly also recalled six suspended lawmakers of the state legislature.

The Speaker had controversially suspended the lawmakers four months ago over what he tagged “unparliamentary conduct”.

The lawmakers included Kennedy Ibe (Obowo); Onyemaechi Njoku (Ihitte Uboma); Uche Ogbuagu (Ikeduru); Anyadike Nwosu (Ezinihitte Mbaise); Philip Ejiogu, (Owerri North); Dominic Ezerioha (Oru West).
