Manchester United have announced the termination of Christiano Ronaldo’s contract “with immediate effect”.
This was revealed in a terse statement posted on their social media handles.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.
“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford,” it read.
This follows Ronaldo’s bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.
In the interview, the Portugese captain claimed that Man United had betrayed him, stressing that he does not respect Ten Hag, the manager.
“I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you,” Ronaldo had said.
However, reacting to the development, the club in a statement via its website said: “Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo.
“The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established. Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans.”
