Popular Nigerian comedian, Debo Adebayo, aka Mr Macaroni, and some other protesters have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State police command over the ongoing #OccupyLekkiTollGate protest.
Thelagostimes gathered that Mr Macaroni was arrested after the police told him “we don’t want you here”.
In a Live Instagram feed before his phone and those of other arrested protesters were seized, the comedian lamented that “Lekki is under military rule.”
“I’m being arrested. I’m being arrested ooo Nigerians you can see,” he said in a mixture of English and Pidgin in one of the video clips.
“So they are collecting our phones right now. We are not fighting them,” he said in another clip, before his phone was seized.
Meanwhile, a Twitter user, @chemicalboyy posted a video of his Instagram live video.
About least 20 other protesters are said to have been arrested by the police.
Thelagostimes recalls that the Federal Government and the Police had earlier warned against the protest, vowing to deal with anyone caught involving in such demonstration.
