The Ekiti governorship election petition tribunal has upheld Biodun Oyebanji’s victory at the governorship election held on June 18, 2022.
The Tribunal, in its judgment on Thursday in Ado -Ekiti, dismissed the petition of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, Mr Segun Oni.
In the judgment read by the Chairman, Justice Wilfred Kpochi and a member of the Panel, Justice Sa’ad Zadawa, resolved all issues in contention against Oni and his party, SDP.
Kpochi held that Oni failed to prove the allegations against the respondents.
Recall that Oyebanji, who was the former secretary to the state government (SSG), was declared winner of the election after securing victory in 15 of the 16 LGAs in the state.
He was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and had 187,057 votes, defeating Segun Oni who polled 82,211 votes, and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 67,457 votes.
