The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Oyo state Command, says it has mapped out security arrangement for the peaceful campaign train of President Muhammadu Buhari to Ibadan on Saturday.
Public Relation Officer (PRO) for the Command, Oluwole Olusegun, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Ibadan.
Olusegun said, adequate security arrangement has been put in place to prevent any breakdown of law and order during the president’s campaign.
He said NSCDC officers would be stationed at strategic locations to protect lives and property.
Olusegun said the command had trained about 120 personnel for the forthcoming general elections in the state, adding that a substantial number of them would be deployed to maintain peace during the visit of the president.
“As we all know, party supporters will troop out to welcome the president and the duty of the security agencies is the safety of lives and property of the citizens.
“We are not going to give any chance to those who might want to perpetrate any evil act.
“We are prepared to protect lives and property and ensure that the campaign is hitch-free,” he said.
The PRO urged politicians and their supporters to shun acts capable of causing violence, stressing that they should embrace peace with one another.
Olusegun called on politicians and other citizens of the state to cooperate with security agents by voluntarily providing information that would assist them nip crime in the bud to ensure hitch-free general elections in the area.
He assured the people of the state of adequate safety of lives and properties before, during and after the general elections.
