The annual convocation of the Celestial Church of Christ at the holy city of Imeko in Ogun State for the year 2018 has come and gone.
The anxiety…excitement…expectations…flurry and frenzy that gradually rose to a crescendo between the 20th of December through 25th December, 2018 has petered out like the flames of a bush fire in the harmattan, leaving behind sweet memories…throbbing nostalgia…and a yearning that can only be satisfied when the next Celestial Convocation rolls in come December 2019.
The millions of Celestial pilgrims from all over the world have returned to base and life in Imeko, that rustic and quiet border town in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area in Ogun State has returned to normal.
The just concluded convocation of Celestial Pilgrims at the holy city of Imeko leaves an incontrovertible confirmation that indeed the Celestial Church of Christ is the World’s largest
indigenous white garment church.
The turn-out at this year’s convocation was simply unprecedented. From all over the globe, members of the Celestial Church of Christ trooped into the City in millions. And perhaps for the first time in the history of the event, planning and organisation was superb. The new convocation committee ensured that the spiritual yearnings of the teeming
members were satisfied with a programme that was not only entertaining but spiritually edifying.
The wonderful testimonies that abound at the week-long event also attest to this.
The clincher for the majority that attended was the newly completed Celestial Basilica; a multi-billion naira cathedral that adorned the landscape, proudly beckoning at all celestial pilgrims like a miracle that we could all see and touch. And indeed, we not only saw and touched but we also entered into this heavenly auditorium and actually worshipped right inside it.
Awesome thanksgiving to God Almighty for making this possible in our life-time, kudos to those that the Lord used to achieve this within a short span of eighteen months and prayers of redemption and repentance were issued to the hard-hearted ones who made this impossible for thirty years; and who rather than join the winning team are still hopping from one court to the other, seeking legal means to throw spanner in the works.
The Celestial Church of Christ is on the move. The 2018 Celestial Convocation at Imeko was indeed a giant leap away from the past. This year’s event was made more unique by the fact that it coincided
with the 70th birthday celebration of the Pastor and Spiritual Head of the church, Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa.
On hand to celebrate with him were the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Rev Mother Esther Ajayi and her husband, the Onimeko of Imeko and a host of other dignitaries.
