A former Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees Chairman Anthony Anenih, has reportedly passed away.
Anenih, who was appointed Minister of Works and Housing in 1999, died at age 85, on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Edo state government has released a statement condoling with the Anenih family over the death of the former PDP BoT Chairman.
Edo state governor Godwin Obaseki, said Anenih made immense contributions to the development of the state and the country, adding that his guidance will be missed as the 2019 election approaches.
The deceased resigned from active politics in 2016, saying “I am persuaded that I have no more ambition nor any point to prove in politics,” adding that he “shall, however, continue to avail the country of my experience, give suggestions and offer advice, as a statesman”.
Anenih asked that Nigerians “support and pray that God will give President Muhammadu Buhari the wisdom and vision to steer this country away from recession to prosperity”.
The late former PDP BoT Chairman was bereaved twice in 2017 as he lost one of his sons and his second wife who died aged 74 after a protracted illness.
