FCMB Finally Sacks Adamu Nuru, Reinstates Yemi Edun As MD/CEO

For the former Managing Director of FCMB, in the person of Mr. Adamu Nuru, the year 2020 is one that he would forever not be forgetting in a hurry. It is the year that an accusation came against him, which finally consumed him.

Like play like play, there was the groundswell of the allegations of extra-marital affair with a junior staff under him, which unsubstantiated allegations claimed led to complications that killed the husband of the said married junior staff, who it was claimed had relocated abroad to a beautiful home supposedly bought for her by the very wealthy banker.

The allegations even went further to claim that even the lady’s children were actually fathered by the light-skinned and soft spoken man and it was the shock of such a discovery that weighed heavily on the husband and which led to his untimely demise. Truth about the allegations is that all these allegations haven’t been established as a matter of fact.

So when the uproar about the story refused to die a natural death then and it was somehow affecting the image of the bank that was built by the dint of the hardwork and the clean cut image of Sir Subomi Balogun, the high chief of Ijebu-Ode before it later went public, the Bank had to quickly step in and suspended her MD, although then packaged as a voluntary leave so that things could be investigated to see if his private life or dealings, in any way or manner contravened their policies.

The bank has stylishly dumped him finally and the interim MD (acting MD), by the name Mrs. Yemisi Edun, who was before the whole ish was an Executive Director and CFO, has been immediately appointed as the substantive MD and CEO, ensuring a seamless transition in leadership.

The Board of directors of the FCMB even commended their former MD for his years of dedicated service and wished him all the best in his future endeavours.

Adamu Nuru was announced as the MD of FCMB then 4 years ago and his tenure took effect from March 20, 2017. He had replaced the son of the founder of the Bank, Ladi Balogun, who had compulsorily retired after spending the required 10 years as the helmsman of the Bank.

Adamu Nuru had risen through the ranks from being a regional director in charge of Abuja and the Northern Nigeria, became the Executive Director in charge of Business Development before becoming the MD/CEO.

He was a graduate of ABU Zaria, where he got a degree in Business Administration.
