Some officials of the Kaduna State Fire Service and Personnel of the state Vigilance Service on Friday sustained varying degrees of injuries while trying to put out a fire emanating from a tanker explosion in the Igabi Local Government Area of the state.

Channelstv reports that the explosion occurred when a petroleum tanker was discharging Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol, at a filling station in the Rigasa community of Igabi local government.

The Director of Kaduna State Fire Service, Paul Aboi,  who confirmed the incident, said that officials of the Federal Fire Service, some personnel of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service and some passers-by were injured in the fire outbreak.

He added that the victims were rushed to the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in the Kaduna State capital for treatment.

While blaming the incident on negligence on the part of the filing station, he noted that the offloading of petrol shouldn’t have been done in the afternoon.

He cautioned petrol owners against endangering their lives by offloading the commodity at the appropriate time.
