A former Judge of the Enugu state high court, Stanley Nnaji has been shot dead by unknown gunmen.
According to TheNation, Justice Nnaji was killed on Sunday evening in Enugu while driving in a black Mercedes Benz SUV.
The assailants numbering three were reportedly seen in a viral video double-crossing the former judge along Ebeano Tunnel, Enugu on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a full-scale manhunt for the yet-to-be identified armed assailants with a view to bringing them to justice.
According to the spokesman of the state police command, Daniel Ndukwe, the gunmen trailed and shot dead the victim and carted his car away around 5pm on Sunday.
In a statement he issued on behalf of the state commissioner of police, Mohammed Aliyu, Ndukwe said, the victim “was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead and deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.”
He was dismissed as a judge following his alleged role in the removal of Chris Ngige, the then governor of Anambra state, in 2007 via a questionable ex-parte order.
Nnaji was killed few hours after Ahmed Gulak, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was shot dead by gunmen in Imo state.
