How Fatima Ganduje, Abolaji Ajimobi’s high-Octane Wedding Unites Rabiu, Dangote

As the whole world converged in Kano to witness the high profile  wedding of two governor’s children in person of Kano governor’s daughter Fatima Ganduje and his Oyo counterpart’s son Abolaji Ajimobi, another interesting drama was playing out on the sidelines. As the Who’s Who of high society trickled into the venue, not a few people wondered what would happen when friends-turned-rivals Aliko Dangote and Abdulsamad Rabiu came across each other.

It will be recalled that Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote and BUA Group’s boss Abdulsamad Rabiu have been fighting dirty for the past few months over limestone mining rights. Even though a court of law is set to deliver judgment on their squabble, the two of them have adopted a policy of “No Retreat, No Surrender”. Their fight on the ground and in the pages of newspapers has attracted a lot of attention. Little wonder many people were anticipating their meeting.

When they finally met the handbags and shouting match that some were looking forward to did not materialize. The two billionaires greeted each other cordially before moving on to other guests. Perhaps they were mindful of their statuses as role models and also the fact that it was a public occasion. The alleged ill-feelings between them was not on display
