Owner of budding fashion house, MK Designs, Kehinde Oyelade has stated that her designs are driven by creativity, dynamism, innovation and originality.
In an interview with TheLagosTimes, Kehinde who said the berth of her fashion house was borne out of her passion for fashion designing said her unique designs distinguish her from her competitors in the industry.
“Unlike other fashion designers, we make ready to wear, where anybody can walk in and pick what he/she wants in our showroom. We specialize in all kinds of female dresses and few male dresses. We also endeavour to meet up customers’ orders three days after placing the orders and we deliver nationwide through local delivery services, DHL and ENS. The most Important thing is that the uniqueness of our design is our ability to be dynamic, bringing up new designs from time to time.
“I do not concentrate on other designers but rather, I focus on meeting the needs of my current and potential customers. Though, number of fashion designers replicate lots of my works by stealing my pictures from my Instagram page @mk_designss and meet people, duplicate my designs and sell it even at more expensive price. On many occasion, people have reported to me that my pictures are used to scam people out there, but however, I try not engage in copying others designs, I believe in creativity, dynamism, innovation and originality, and I believe that with that, I will have my ground, and make the Skye my stepping stone”, she said.
She added that her fashion outfit designs all kinds of female dresses, ready to wear, gowns, bubu, maxi dresses, Ankara dresses, African print top, kimono and pants, embellished dresses among others.
Kehinde who disclosed that she started her business in 2013 said the name of the brand was coined from her actual name. “I started by business around 2013 or there about but we officially kick start at 2014 when I came up with the brand name MK Designs and acquire a standard showroom for my Business. The name of the brand originated from my actual name kehinde, during my undergraduate days, immediate family and friends call me mami kay, because I am well known with that nickname, I decided to call my brand MKdesigns”.
While speaking on Nigeria’s fashion industry, she said: “I see Nigerian fashion industry competing with other developing nations. The way our fabrics is been demanded in other countries, I believe Nigeria fashion industry is aiming at globally influence”.
