Ibadan stands still for Ajimobi’s son Ganduje’s daughter’s wedding….as pillars of high society honours Ajimobi

IBADAN-IBADAN, the Oyo State capital, literally became a Mecca of sorts, as personalities from all walks of life converged on the ancient city to grace the talk-of the- town wedding reception of Idris and Fatima, son and daughter of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State and his Kano State counterpart, Alhaji Abdulahi Ganduje.

The memory of the wedding reception, held at the renovated Agodi gardens on Saturday, which would continue to register in the minds of people for a long time, had in attendance Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo; Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari; former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon; APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote; Femi Otedola; Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu and Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Adewale.

Others were the Governors of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu; State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola the State of Osun and his wife, Serifat; Senator Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State; Alhaji Abubakar Bagudu of Jigawa State

Former governors which included Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala (Oyo), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola (Osun), Adams Oshiomonle(Edo) were also in attendance.

Minister for Steel and Solid Minirals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Minister for Communications, Barr. Adebayo Shittu and Minister for Health, Prof. Issac Adewole and Minister for Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun.

The wife of the President, Mrs. Buhari was conveyed to the venue at 2:45 pm, while Osinbajo and his wife arrived at 3:36pm.

The couple were ushered in at exactly 2:45pm to the admiration of dignitaries in attendance.

While speaking at the wedding reception, the bridegroom’s father, Alhaji Ganduje described the wedding as abridge building mechanism that would provide an everlasting friendship across the Niger.
He then called for a similar relationship from Nigerians for further cement of the nation’s unity.

All. Ganduje thereafter named Idris Ajimobi as the Seriki Nyaki of Kano state which literally means the Chief warrior of Kano state .

Earlier in his opening remark, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Kola Daisi, prayed for a successful marital life for Idris and Fatimah Ajimobi, noting that the relationship between the young couple was a blessing for the unity of the country.

He commended the courage of Idris Ajimobi for extending his hand of love beyond the Niger bridge, stressing that if he were to have a similar opportunity in his younger days, he would have opted for a Fulani lady like Idris Ajimobi did.

The groom’s father, Gov. Ajimobi and the bride’s father, Alhaji Ganduje, were seen decked in white “Aso Ofi agbada” attires, beaming with smiles all through as they were showering prayers on their newly wedded children.

Other top personalities were Otunba Subomi Balogun, Mrs. Bola Obasanjo, representative of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Segun Osoba and his wife, former Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin, Sen. Ken. Nnamani, Sen. Musilu Obanikoro, Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Dawud Akinola, wife of the former deputy governor of Lagos State, Justice Jumoke Pedro; the Osile of Oke-Ona, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, Oba-In-Council of Ibadanland, University College Hospital (UCH), Prof. Temitope Alonge and people from within and outside the state.

The event was spiced up by popular comedians, Gbenga Adeyinka and Basket mouth.

Highlight of the event was the cutting of the wedding cake and dancing by the celebrators
