Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday met with Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police, and Lawal Daura, director-general of Department of State Security, (DSS) at the presidential villa in Abuja.
A source told TheCable that the meeting was about the ongoing case of Senate President Bukola Saraki with the police.
The police had invited Saraki for questioning after suspects arrested in connection with the robbery in Offa, Kwara state, allegedly implicated him.
The police said it would probe Saraki’s alleged connection with the suspect.
Also at the meeting between the two was Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation and minister of justice.
On leaving the meeting, state house correspondents asked the police IG what the agenda was, but he said all inquires should be directed to the aide-de-camp to the vice-president.
Earlier, Saraki said he has sent his aide to get the invitation letter from the police for him to “honour it immediately.”
The police have asked Saraki to respond to the allegation in writing instead of appearing before them.
