The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive materials ahead of the governorship election in Bayelsa tomorrow
The electoral body also distributed life jackets across the eight local government areas of the state where the governorship election will be held.
Besides Bayelsa, the election will also take place in Imo and Kogi States, with the deployment of security operatives to ensure a conducive environment for the voters and INEC officials.
The INEC’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Bayelsa state, Mr. Wilfred Ifogah, noted that the electoral items kept in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) branch in Yenagoa were distributed in the presence of representatives of all political parties participating in the election.
Ifogah said: “The distribution took place earlier today in the presence of political parties and security agencies.”
Meanwhile, a total of 1,056,862 people are expected to cast their votes in the off-cycle election.
