Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared Wednesday, July 19, 2023, a public holiday in the state.
The governor declared the day a public holiday in commemoration of this year’s Hijrah 1445.
The governor made the declaration in a circular signed by his Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi and made available to newsmen by Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
The governor congratulated the Muslim faithful on the commencement of the New Year.
He also enjoined them to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and sustainability in the state in particular and the country in general.
