Residents of Ikotun area of Lagos State are in panic, following the leakage of a pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Residents said they noticed the leakage around 6am on Friday.
According to them, the situation led to confusion and fear in the area.
It was learnt that occupants of nearby buildings rushed out of their houses while some immediately offloaded their belongings.
Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu,who confirmed the incident, said the leakage was caused by pipeline vandalism.
Thelagostimes gathered that responders at the incident scene are LASEMA, LRU Fire, Lagos State Fire Service, NSCDC, NNPC, LASTMA and LNSC.
