Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites, on Tuesday, invaded the National Assembly complex premises, resulting in an exchange with security operatives.
The Shiite sect members invaded the National Assembly to protest the continued incarceration of their leader, Ibrahim Zakzaky who had been in custody since December 2015.
The protesters were said to have overpowered the policemen at the gate, collected one of their guns and shot the two security operatives. They also burnt three vehicles and destroyed many others.
Thelagostimes gathered that the protesters reportedly shot at least two security operatives at the National Assembly complex.
It was also gathered that the protest led to the closure of all gates to the National Assembly premises.
The Shiites members are protesting the continued detention of their leader, Ibrahim Elzakzaky.
In a viideo obtained by TheLagostimes, a Twitter user identified simply as Oyekunle Adedamola (@Dfour4sure) said the protesters are again protesting the detention of their leader, Elzakzaky.
