Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the just-concluded presidential election, Peter Obi has vowed to explore all legal options to prove that he won the elections.

Recall that Thelagostimes had earlier reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Wednesday, declared candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu winner of the elections.

According to INEC, Tinubu polled a total of 8,794,726 votes to defeat his fellow contenders – Atiku Abubakar of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 6,984,520 votes, Peter Obi who had 6,101,533 votes and candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso who had 1,496,687 votes.

However, while addressing an ongoing Press Conference in Abuja on Thursday, Obi revealed plans to challenge the electoral process and reclaim his mandate.

“We will explore all legal and peaceful option to reclaim our mandate. We won the election and we will prove it to Nigerians,” Obi said.

He further noted that a new Nigeria is possible, adding that he is ready to work for a new Nigeria, alongside his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.

In attendance at the briefing is the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure. Also in attendance is the director general of Obi’s presidential campaign, Akin Osuntokun.
