Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Will Be Closed For 60 Days — LASTMA

Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has announced the closure of some sections of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway from September 2 to October 31 for construction work,

The announcement was contained in a traffic advisory released by the authority on Sunday.

According to the advisory, The sections of the busiest expressway in the country that will be affected are Kara Bridge inward Berger and from Berger inward Kara Bridge.

In view of the above, The traffic management body has announced alternative routes and detours that could be used by motorists.

The alternative routes are:

Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway from/to Abeokuta connecting from/to Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Sagamu-Ikorodu Road from/to Sagamu connecting via Sagamu Interchange from/to Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Ijebu-Ode – Itoikin Road from/to Ijebu-Ode connecting from/to Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Julius Berger, the company to whom that section of the road is contracted to, had previously, in August, announced plans to close the road.

However, the plans were postponed because of plans made for the Muslim yuletide season of Eid-el-Kabir celebration and other religious activities scheduled around the period.

The area to be closed covers 1.4 kilometres of the 127.6-kilometre-long expressway connecting Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state and Lagos.
