The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde has challenged the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, saying PDP’s Sure-P and YOU-WIN were better than N-POWER and not used as political witch-hunt tools.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate said that by allegedly parading the beneficiaries of the Federal Government N-Power Programme and threatening them that the programme will stop if they do not vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a cheap and desperate blackmail.
Recall that Lagos Times reported that, Ajimobi had earlier urged beneficiaries of N-Power to vote for Muhammadu Buhari in the forthcoming elections in order to continue to enjoy the empowerment programme.
But in a release issued by his campaign organisation and signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, Makinde said, the Federal Government largesse is wide open and vulnerable to massive fraud, while only a very small margin is doled out to the masses because of the general elections.
According to him, the ruling party and some government officials are the major beneficiaries.
Makinde said by forcing the people to abandon their little businesses and attend a rally to show gratitude for a monumental fraud, it is obvious that the state government is in panic mode which is a clear signal that APC had lost the elections.
Makinde said Ajimobi and the APC were celebrating a non-event when they should be grappling with the N40 billion they are owing primary school teachers and inability to pay serving primary school teachers salaries.
The governorship hopeful stressed that, the state government must explain why serving teachers who were deceptively given mass promotion were not being paid the required increment while contracts that will bring kick-backs are still being awarded at the twilight of the administration.
