Many people have been reportedly trapped as fire engulfed the head office of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) in Yaba in the early hours of Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
Thelagostimes gathered that firefighters have arrived the scene of the incident to extinguish the fire as of the time of filing this report.
It was learnt that the fire was caused by a power surge in one of the offices which spread rapidly to other offices.
According to reports, several people were trapped in the building as the fire raged.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the council noted that no life was lost.
“The Management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), wishes to inform the general public that there was an early morning fire incident at the WAEC National Office, Yaba, Lagos. It was swiftly contained by a combined team of fire fighters.
“Thankfully, no life was lost and all important documents and records are intact. Thank you”, the statement reads.
